Description Published in 1979 it is dated, however this book is the only “all North Island” yachting level guide ever to be published in New Zealand. See also the companion book called Columbia Cruises South. Together the books made the only complete New Zealand cruising guide outside the British Admiralty New Zealand Pilot. Columbia was the author’s motor cruiser and the book takes the reader on a cruise of exploration around the North Island. Everything from local lore and history to navigational and geographic details are described. The book is written in narrative style, telling of trips ahsore and gourmet meals in the galley!
