Milton and Rose Friedman were two of the most important economists of the twentieth century. In the 1970s, they were central to the Chicago School of Economics which largely rejected Keynesianism in place of monetarism, or the priority of policies that controlled money in circulation. Milton Friedman won a Nobel Prize in Economics in 1976. Together they authored two books and facilitated numerous public events. In Two Lucky People, Milton and Rose Friedman recount their professional and married lives in a sprawling memoir. It begins with how they met and carries the reader through to their elderly years after long careers as two of the most notable economists of their period. Written in short, journal-like entries, the memoir hardly includes a single negative word. Much of it describes their friendships with powerful people–politicians, business owners, and celebrities–and their joint successes as economists. Two Lucky People, as the title suggests, oozes with fortune and privilege, capturing the outstanding social and financial success of its married authors. This first edition, first printing is inscribed by Milton Friedman and signed by Rose Friedman on the title page. It is in fine condition. In the original full burgundy cloth, fine. Text block very nearly fine with only touch of soiling to bottom edge. In the original dust jacket, fine. A fine inscribed first edition of Two Lucky People.
